Was Jesus Political?

For our next Thinker Sensitive, we will unpack the politics of Jesus to discern how and how not to use Jesus and the New Testament in contemporary political debates.

Who We Are

We are an Assemblies of God church in the Fillmore neighborhood. Our mission is threefold: to transform lives through the good news of Jesus, to strengthen families, and to help our neighborhood flourish.

Located near Fillmore Street between Nevada Avenue and Union Boulevard, our neighborhood is unique. Both UCCS and Colorado College are just ten minutes to the North and south, respectively. Downtown Colorado Springs and Garden of the Gods are easily accessible.

Despite its prime location, poor planning and a shrinking industrial sector have prevented a strong sense of community from forming. Poverty is a serious issue. Homelessness is rampant. Families are broken.

Our location is not an accident. The people of the Fillmore neighborhood need the love of Jesus. We believe the Lord has called us to be a light to this community.

To carry out our mission, we put a heavy emphasis on community outreach and disciple-making. Jesus called us to be discipled and to make disciples, as he commanded in Matthew 28. By helping our community and emboldening our church family, we believe we can see real, positive change in our neighborhood.
